This is a five year Department of Labor registered electrical apprenticeship program.
If you are selected into the Apprenticeship Program there are two parts of the program that are equally important.
The program consists of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction. Starting wage is $11.28 per hour plus benefits. Raises are twice a year if all requirements are being met by the apprentice. Each apprentice is given a short list of tools and textbooks that he/she will be required to purchse before they can go to work. If accepted into the program you will be sent to work for a signatory contractor with Local Union 583, I.B.E.W.
The work area, which is referred to as the jurisdiction, covers the three western most counties Texas, Southern New Mexico as far west as Arizona New Mexico state line and as far north as Cloudcroft. You must have a current driver’s license, transportation, and social security card.
The El Paso JATC will not discriminate against apprenticeship applicants or apprentices based on RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEX (INCLUDING PREGNANCY AND GENDER IDENTITY), SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENETIC INFORMATION, OR BECAUSE THEY ARE AN INDIVIDUAL WITH A DISABILITY OR A PERSON 40 YEARS OLD OR OLDER
What is an Apprenticeship through EPJATC?
The El Paso Electricians JATC is a federal and state registered apprenticeship program that requires each Apprentice Inside Wireman to complete 900 classroom hours as well as 8000 on the job training hours. Once an apprentice is accepted into the program, and indentured, they are placed to work with one of our participating contractors. A Journeyman Wireman ensures that the apprentice is receiving proper on the job training. The apprentice is also required to attend related classroom training for at least 6 hours a week in order to complete the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee's Apprentice Inside Wireman course of study.
